About St Jude Apartments
St. Jude Apartments is a Catholic parish in Montgomery with deep roots in the city’s history. The parish says it began in 1934, when Father Harold Purcell founded it as a Catholic mission to the African-American community. Saint Jude also holds a notable place in civil rights history: the parish site says it was the final stop for the Selma to Montgomery Marchers before they arrived at the State Capitol on March 24, 1965. Today the parish is led by Rev. Andrew B. Jones, pastor, and celebrates Mass throughout the week.
