What is a denomination quiz?
A denomination quiz is a short self-assessment that asks about your beliefs and preferences — how you read the Bible, what you value in worship, how you think about the sacraments, and what kind of community you want — and then suggests Christian denominations whose teachings line up with your answers. Think of it as a starting point for exploring traditions, not a verdict on which church you belong to. Our version takes about three minutes and covers nine major Christian traditions.
How does this denomination quiz work?
You answer eight questions about Scripture, worship style, the Lord's Supper, baptism, church government, and a few related topics. Each option is weighted toward the traditions that historically hold that view. When you finish, you'll see your closest match plus two strong alternates worth exploring, along with plain-English reasons each tradition came up. From there, you can browse churches in that tradition near you.
Is this denomination quiz biased toward one tradition?
No. The quiz covers nine major Christian traditions equally: Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican/Episcopal, Lutheran, Presbyterian/Reformed, Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal/Charismatic, and non-denominational. Each option is described in its own words, without favoring any tradition. When scores tie, we lean toward the rarer match so we surface less-obvious options rather than defaulting to the most populous denomination.
Will my answers be saved?
Your answers are kept in the URL of the results page and nothing more — we don't store quiz responses in any database. That means you can bookmark or share your result link, but nobody else can see what you answered unless you send them the link. If you choose to enter your email for a personalized visit plan, we'll use that email to send you helpful content, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
What if I don't agree with my result?
That's common, and it's fine. A quiz can only ask so many questions, and every tradition contains a wide range of churches. We always show you two strong alternate matches alongside your primary result, so you can compare the reasoning. The best next step is usually to visit two or three different congregations — across traditions, if you're curious — and see where you feel at home.
How to use your denomination quiz result
The Christian church spans dozens of traditions, and the question “what denomination am I?” rarely has a single clean answer. This quiz is a starting point — a way to put words to what you already believe and to point you toward traditions that have wrestled with the same questions for centuries.
Your result names a primary match and two strong alternates. We recommend reading the short summary for each, then visiting one or two congregations in your top match before you decide. Most churches welcome first-time visitors, and a single Sunday morning tells you more about a community than any quiz can.
What the quiz looks at
The eight questions cover the topics that most often separate traditions: how Scripture functions as authority, what happens in the Lord’s Supper, who can be baptized and when, how church government is organized, and the texture of worship — quiet reverence, hearty congregational song, charismatic expression, or something in between. None of these has a “right” answer; the quiz simply maps your preferences to traditions that share them.
Christian denominations covered
The quiz scores across nine traditions: Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Anglican/Episcopal, Lutheran, Presbyterian/Reformed, Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal/Charismatic, and non-denominational evangelical. Each of those covers a wide range of local churches — two Baptist congregations down the street from each other can feel very different. Use your result to narrow the search, not to close it.
