About St. Michael's by-the-Sea Episcopal Church
St. Michael’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal parish in Carlsbad and the oldest church in the city. Its chapel, built in 1894, is still used for services, connecting present-day worship with the parish’s long life in the community. Rooted in the Anglo-Catholic tradition, St. Michael’s centers its life on traditional Anglican worship and on sharing in Christ’s work of reconciliation and healing. Fr. Doran Stambaugh serves as rector. Services include weekend Masses, weekday noon Masses, and a Sunday afternoon Jazz Evensong, with Daily Morning and Evening Prayer also streamed online.
