About Concord United Methodist Church
Concord United Methodist Church, located in Concord, California, traces its roots to July 1952, when Reverend William Fletcher Oglesby began his mission to establish a Methodist presence in the community by walking the neighborhoods and visiting residents. The congregation formally organized on November 30, 1952, with 240 charter members, and constructed its first building, Oglesby Hall, in 1954, followed by the Sanctuary in 1962. Today, under the leadership of Pastor Marie Wilson, the church embodies its mission to seek God, serve the community, and support one another through a diverse range of ministries including choirs for all age groups, an orchestra, youth ministry, Bible study groups, Stephen Ministry, and various support groups. The vibrant congregation reaches beyond its local community to serve the greater United States and the world, and maintains active outreach to the city of Concord. Visitors are warmly welcomed to join the community for worship, prayer, and fellowship as the church continues its legacy of spiritual growth and community engagement.
