About Messiah Lutheran Church
Messiah Lutheran Church in Hayward, California is a welcoming congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America that invites visitors to experience worship centered on God's grace and community. The church follows a four-part traditional western Christian worship structure, gathering the community, proclaiming God's Word, celebrating Holy Communion, and sending people out to serve. With a relaxed atmosphere that may feel familiar to those experienced with mainline Protestant or Roman Catholic traditions, Messiah seeks to embrace visitors as whole people with their questions and complexities. The congregation features both traditional and contemporary hymns accompanied by organ or piano, creating a worship experience grounded in liturgical tradition while remaining accessible. Children are welcomed and encouraged to participate fully in services, and the community gathers for fellowship over coffee and snacks following worship.
