About International Association Of Sufism
The International Association of Sufism (IAS) is a California-based non-profit and United Nations NGO founded in 1983 by Dr. Nahid Angha and Shah Nazar Seyyed Dr. Ali Kianfar to introduce Sufism in its varied forms to the public and foster dialogue between different Sufi schools. Located in Novato, IAS serves as a global forum for interfaith leaders, scholars, and artists, while advancing humanitarian work including educational programs, grants to women-led groups, medical services, and peace advocacy. The organization operates the Institute for Sufi Studies, publishes Sufism: An Inquiry (the world's longest-running journal on Sufism), and hosts traditional Sufi gatherings and retreats. IAS has received multiple awards for its contributions to peace, human rights, and education, and continues to expand its mission of bridging Sufi spiritual principles with contemporary social and scientific understanding.
