About Seamens Church Institute
Seamens Church Institute in Oakland, California is an American Baptist organization dedicated to serving seafarers and promoting maritime awareness in the Bay Area. With 80 years of service to maritime workers, the institute operates the International Maritime Center and conducts ship visits to vessels docked in the Port of Oakland, offering chaplaincy care and practical assistance to crews spending months away from home. The organization also runs educational initiatives like Tomorrow Corps to introduce young people to maritime careers and works to strengthen connections between the maritime industry and local communities.
