About Christian Science Reading Room
First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Redding is a branch of The Mother Church in Boston, founded on the principles of Mary Baker Eddy's Christian Science teachings. Located at 1740 Butte Street, the church has served the Redding community since 1900, becoming an officially recognized branch in 1934. The current building, dedicated in 1942, hosts Sunday services at 10 AM featuring two elected lay readers who present Lesson-Sermons combining selections from the King James Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Wednesday evening testimony meetings at 7 PM invite members to share personal experiences of healing and spiritual growth. The church welcomes visitors to its Reading Room, open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 11 AM to 4 PM, where guests can learn more about Christian Science and explore resources about the faith tradition.
