About Alvin Drive Church of Christ
Alvin Drive Church of Christ in Salinas has roots in a congregation that first formed in the spring of 1935, with Jack Bates serving as its first minister. The church purchased property on California Street in 1945, held opening day services there on June 12, 1949, and later began construction on the Alvin Drive property in the fall of 1975, completing it in 1980. The congregation’s work has included prison ministry, Spanish ministry, gospel meetings, radio and television programs, and training programs. Sunday includes Bible study, morning worship, and an evening Bible study, with another Bible study on Wednesday evening.
