About Christian Science Reading Room
First Church of Christ, Scientist in San Mateo welcomes visitors to discover Christian Science and its teachings through Sunday services, Wednesday testimonial meetings, and a peaceful Reading Room. Founded in 1897 as an informal gathering and formally organized in 1907, the church has grown to include a full sanctuary, Sunday School for young people up to age twenty, and a dedicated Reading Room that serves as a community space for prayer and spiritual study. All services are simulcast via Zoom, making them accessible to those who cannot attend in person. The church understands God as infinite Love and teaches that prayer and spiritual understanding have the power to heal and restore. Visitors are warmly invited to join the community and learn more about Christian Science, the Bible, and the teachings of Mary Baker Eddy.
