About First Church of Christ, Scientist, San Mateo
First Church of Christ, Scientist, San Mateo has served the community since 1897, when two pioneer residents opened their home to share Christian Science with friends and neighbors. The church formally organized in 1907 and has grown to occupy a beautiful building completed in 1928 at the corner of El Camino Real and Mount Diablo Avenue. The congregation gathers for Sunday services at 10:00 AM, Wednesday evening testimonial meetings at 7:30 PM, and a weekly Christian Science Sunday School for young people up to age twenty. The church also maintains a Reading Room, described as a community space for inspiration and prayer where visitors can study Bible lessons and deepen their spiritual connection. All services are available via Zoom for those unable to attend in person.
