About Mission Santa Clara de Asís
Mission Santa Clara de Asís is a consecrated Roman Catholic church at the heart of Santa Clara University’s campus. First established by the Franciscan Order in 1777, it was one of the 21 Alta California Missions and was transferred to the Society of Jesus in 1851. Today it serves as a student chapel for the campus rather than a community parish. Sunday and Wednesday evening Student Masses provide liturgical worship for the university community, and visitors are welcome to come to the mission during daily visiting hours.
