About St. Michael Community Center
Saint Michael Antiochian Orthodox Church in Van Nuys has served Orthodox Christians in the San Fernando Valley since its founding on January 12, 1969. Beginning as a mission with just ten pledging families, the church grew rapidly and became the first parish consecrated by Metropolitan Philip as a full-status Orthodox Church without beginning as a mission. The parish has continued to expand its facilities and community presence, completing construction of a new 8,400 square foot Byzantine church sanctuary in 2023. Today, St. Michael welcomes visitors to experience Orthodox Christian worship and join a vibrant, established faith community with deep roots in the region. The church offers Sunday liturgies, a church school, youth programs, and various community events throughout the year.
