About Vista Buddhist Temple
Vista Buddhist Temple is a Shin Buddhist, non-monastic, family-friendly temple located in Vista, California, serving as a center for Buddhism in North County San Diego. The sangha's roots extend back to gatherings of Japanese immigrants in the 1930s, with the temple officially opening its doors in 1987. Welcoming all to attend services, activities, and festivals, the temple practices Jodo Shinshu or Pureland Buddhism, part of the Mahayana tradition. The vibrant community gathers regularly for Dharma study, meditation, and celebration of traditional festivals including Hanamatsuri in April and Obon in July. Whether you are a temple member, dharma friend, or seeker, you are invited to come as you are and experience the temple's emphasis on wisdom, compassion, and interconnected community.
