About Wesley United Church
Wesley United Church in Dover traces its roots to a Methodist Society established in 1778. The congregation’s present site was purchased for a new church, with the cornerstone laid on September 23, 1850; the building was dedicated the following year and has been expanded several times since. Sunday worship is offered at 8:00 AM in the chapel and 9:30 AM in the sanctuary, followed by fellowship time at 10:30 AM. Wesley’s community ministries include a Saturday Community Meal and Clothing Closet. The church also maintains two cemeteries: the original cemetery on North Street and Lakeside Cemetery near Silver Lake. Senior Pastor Christine Bowden leads new members classes a few times per year.
