About Cathedral of St. Mary
The Cathedral of St. Mary is the Mother Church of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami. Its roots go back to August 1929, when the parish was formed as the Little River Mission Club. The first Mass was celebrated on July 20, 1930, in a wooden structure, and the church was moved to the current Cathedral site in December 1936. Saint Mary’s Parish School opened on October 2, 1939, with 230 students registered. Very Reverend Steven O’Hala, V.F. serves as Rector. Worship is Catholic and liturgical, with Spanish included in the parish’s language life.
