About Saint Michael & All Angels Church
Saint Michael & All Angels Church is an Episcopal congregation located in Tallahassee with a rich history dating back to 1882, when it was organized by Jacob R. Ballard, the second Black deacon ordained in the Episcopal Church, Diocese of Florida. The church has served the Tallahassee community for over a century, including operating a thriving parochial school that educated hundreds of students who became community leaders. Under the current leadership of Rector Hugh Chapman, the church welcomes all people and emphasizes that visitors are loved and accepted as they are. Sunday services are held at 10 a.m. both in person and online through their YouTube channel, providing flexibility for those unable to attend in person. The congregation actively engages in ministries including campus ministry at Florida A&M University, Bible study groups, and community outreach partnerships dedicated to social justice. The parish is currently undertaking a capital campaign to significantly upgrade its facilities and expand its capacity for ministry.
