About Emmanuel Episcopal Church
Emmanuel Episcopal Church has served the Athens, Georgia community since 1843, welcoming all who seek a spiritual home regardless of race, sexuality, gender identity, or physical and mental ability. As part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, the church centers its worship on the celebration of the Eucharist according to the Book of Common Prayer and believes in Scripture, Tradition, Reason, and Experience as guides for faith. The parish mission emphasizes making disciples of Jesus through vibrant liturgies, a welcoming community, engaging formation, effective ministries, and responsible stewardship. Emmanuel offers multiple Sunday services, children's programming including a nursery and Vacation Bible School, adult formation classes, and various spiritual groups throughout the week. Visitors are encouraged to visit the Welcome Table in the narthex, complete a pew card, and contact the parish office with any questions.
