About Tranquil Ame
Tranquil AME Church is a traditional African Methodist Episcopal congregation in Douglasville. The church traces its beginnings to 1850, when it says it was organized by freed slaves. Its early building also served during the week as a schoolhouse for Negro children, reflecting the congregation’s historic role in worship and education. The first choir was organized in 1948, adding to its long tradition of music in church life. Current service information lists Sunday worship and teaching at 9:00 AM, Sunday School at 10:00 AM, and Morning Worship at 10:00 AM. Reverend Dr. Wilhelmina Jordan serves as pastor, and children’s ministry is among the church’s programs.
