About Pleasant Grove AME Church
Pleasant Grove AME Church is a traditional African Methodist Episcopal congregation in Hinesville with roots dating to 1869, when it was organized at Taylor’s Creek, Georgia. The church’s early leadership included Reverend Piner Martin. After the original property became part of what is now Fort Stewart U.S. Army Installation in 1941, Pleasant Grove was rebuilt and reopened for worship in 1942. Pastor John E. Morse, Jr. and Evangelist Debbie L. Morse serve in leadership. The church’s mission centers on leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ through worship, prayer, biblical teaching, discipleship, community outreach, and compassionate service.
