About Christ Church Episcopal
Christ Church, Frederica is an inclusive Episcopal community on Saint Simons Island, Georgia, with roots stretching back nearly 300 years to 1736 when Charles Wesley arrived as chaplain to General James Oglethorpe. The present Gothic Revival church building, consecrated in 1884, stands as a memorial to the late wife of The Rev. Anson Green Phelps Dodge, Jr., and features distinctive stained glass windows illuminating its historic sanctuary. The church offers five weekend worship services and a variety of programs and ministries designed to engage faith and serve the community. Visitors will find a welcoming Episcopal community committed to spiritual growth, outreach, and respecting the dignity of every person, with a rich legacy of service spanning centuries.

Visitor Tips: Historic Christ Church is open to visitors Tuesday through Sunday from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm; the cemetery is accessible from sunrise to sunset.
