About Speedwell United Methodist Church
Speedwell United Methodist Church, located in the Sandfly Community area of Savannah, Georgia, has served its congregation since its organization in 1884. Founded by mission women from New York and several dedicated community members, the church has weathered significant challenges, including a devastating fire in 1932, and has grown to occupy a modern building completed in 1972. Today, the church offers a welcoming environment rooted in Methodist traditions, with a commitment to spreading the teachings of Jesus Christ and providing congregants a place of comfort, hope, and peace. Sunday services begin at 10:00 a.m., preceded by Sunday School at 9:00 a.m., and the church also offers Wednesday night Bible study via conference call and seasonal programs such as Advent Bible Study. Visitors are invited to join the growing congregation and experience the holiness of Speedwell's worship community.
