About Hanapepe United Church Of Christ
Hanapepe United Church of Christ, founded in 1890, welcomes all people regardless of background or stage of life's journey. Located in Hanapepe on Kauai's west side, this United Church of Christ congregation originated from missionaries who came to serve field workers and their families, many of whom became respected community leaders. The church is known for its commitment to inclusion and was the first UCC congregation on Kauai to officially become Open and Affirming, welcoming LGBTQ members and leading Kauai's first Pride Festival parade in 2019. Beyond Sunday worship, the church supports the broader community through its Fellowship Hall, which hosts the affordable Kokua thrift shop, Tutu & Me preschool program, Sea Scouts, and various community gatherings.
