About Formation Church
Formation Church is a Missionary Church congregation in Honolulu, Hawaii, founded in 2004 as Kakaʻako Christian Fellowship. The church emphasizes spiritual formation as a lifelong process of being shaped into the likeness of Christ, grounded in Jesus's teachings and the Bible. Sunday gatherings at 9:00 AM feature worship, storytelling from community members, teaching on Scripture, and small group discussions called Step1 Groups where participants explore faith together. Beyond Sunday services, Formation Church views itself as a way of life, encouraging members to live as apprentices of Jesus throughout the week. Dress Code: There is no dress code; you are invited to come however you feel most comfortable, including slippers and a t-shirt. Service Format: Sunday services run from 9:00–10:30 AM and include worship with projected lyrics, stories or conversations featuring real people sharing honest experiences, a teaching on Scripture applied to everyday life, and small group discussions in circles of 5–6 people. Visitor Tips: Participation in worship, storytelling segments, and group discussions is entirely optional and can be done to whatever degree you're comfortable with; everyone is welcome to observe and reflect, and participation in Communion (held the first Sunday of each month) is completely optional for visitors.
