About Jodo Mission of Hawaii
Jodo Mission of Hawaii is a Buddhist temple rooted in over a century of service to the Hawaiian community since its establishment in 1907. Founded by early Japanese immigrants who brought their Pure Land Buddhism faith to the islands, the mission has evolved into a multicultural spiritual home welcoming people of all backgrounds. The temple serves as both a place of worship and a vital community center, offering regular Sunday services at 10 a.m., daily morning services, memorial rites, cultural events such as Bon Dance and O-Bon festivals, and educational programs centered on Jodo Shu teachings. Located in Honolulu, the mission preserves Buddhist traditions while fostering peace, gratitude, and community engagement. Visitors of any faith are warmly welcomed to attend services and experience the temple's welcoming atmosphere.
