The present sanctuary, built in 1875 by Edward Bailey, stands as a notable example of New England gothic architecture adapted to Hawaii using native materials—a testament to the church's deep cultural and spiritual heritage. Named at the request of Queen Ka'ahumanu, a devoted convert to Christianity and Kuhina Nui of the Hawaiian Kingdom, the church has served generations of island families. Today under the pastoral leadership of Wayne Higa, Kaahumanu Church gathers for Sunday worship services held both in person and online via Facebook Live at 9:00 am, fostering connection and community. The congregation also hosts Ohana Sundays on the last Sunday of each month, featuring food, games, and fellowship on the front lawn, creating space for families and visitors to experience the church's warm hospitality.
