About Order Of Saint Francis Of The Martyr Saint George
The Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr Saint George represent a Catholic congregation of consecrated women religious in Alton, Illinois, dedicated to living a simple, poor, and joyful life in the footsteps of Saint Francis of Assisi. Inspired by their foundress Mother M. Anselma, the community witnesses to Christ through devotion to the Cross, Crib, and Holy Eucharist, with a particular focus on the Sacred Heart and the Pierced Heart of their Savior. The sisters are devoted to contemplative prayer, spiritual motherhood, and making God's merciful love visible to the world. Their spirituality centers on gazing upon Christ whom they have pierced, seeking to encounter Him in the crib, on the cross, and in the Eucharist. The community welcomes vocational inquiries from young Catholic women discerning a call to religious life and actively engages in prayer, ministry, and spiritual direction. Visitors and those interested in learning more about their charism and community life are invited to contact the sisters directly.
