What to Expect as a First-Time Visitor to Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago

Dress Code: Holy Name Cathedral is a sacred space, so we kindly ask that you dress modestly and respectfully. Think "Sunday best" - no torn, ripped, or revealing clothing. You don't need to wear your fanciest outfit, but please avoid anything too casual like shorts, tank tops, or flip flops.

Service Format: As the mother church of the Archdiocese of Chicago, Holy Name Cathedral holds Mass several times a day. The main Sunday Masses are at 7am, 8:30am, 10am, 11:30am, and 5:15pm. The services typically last around an hour and follow the standard Catholic Mass format of readings, homily, communion, etc. Large crowds are common, especially at the 10am and 11:30am Masses.

Tips for Visitors: - Arrive early (at least 15 minutes before the start of Mass) to find a seat. The cathedral can fill up quickly, especially on Sundays. - Use the main entrance on State Street.
