About St Leonard's Ministries
Saint Leonard's Ministries is a reentry and support organization serving formerly incarcerated men and women in Chicago's Near West Side community. Since 1954, the organization has provided comprehensive services including safe housing, employment and education training, mental health counseling, substance use treatment, and life skills development—all without charge to participants. Saint Leonard's creates a close-knit, non-judgmental community where staff members who have themselves experienced incarceration work alongside residents to facilitate healing, reconciliation, and successful return to society. The organization's approach has proven remarkably effective, reducing recidivism rates to 14 percent for men and 2 percent for women, far below state averages. Guided by core values of dignity, love, hope, respect, and dedication, Saint Leonard's empowers returning citizens to build whole and productive lives.
