Christian Outreach-Lutherans (COOL Ministries) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1982 by six Lutheran churches in the Waukegan and North Chicago area, incorporated in 1983. The organization operates a food pantry that has served nearly one million pounds of food annually in recent years, providing balanced meals, specialty dietary items, and support to thousands of Lake County residents monthly. Beyond food assistance, COOL Ministries operates a Family Housing Program that has provided rent and utility-paid housing to homeless families since 1988, paired with case management, life skills training, and counseling to support the transition to self-sufficient living. The organization also provides dedicated assistance to veterans each month. COOL continues to serve the broader community through volunteer opportunities and accepts tax-deductible donations to support its mission of reducing hunger and homelessness while promoting personal growth.
