About Dogwood Prairie United Methodist Church
Dogwood Prairie United Methodist Church in Oblong has roots in two historic congregations: Prairie, begun in 1854, and Dogwood, begun in 1857. The present Dogwood church was built in 1907-1908, with the Youth Building added in 1950-1951 and the parsonage in 1958-1959. Dogwood and Prairie were united by conference action in 1964 as The North Oblong Parish, and in 2002 the Prairie congregation merged with Dogwood to become Dogwood Prairie United Methodist Church. Pastor Daniel Skelton serves the congregation, which gathers for worship and Sunday School each Sunday.
