Sterling First United Methodist Church is the oldest church congregation in Sterling and Whiteside County, with roots reaching back to 1838 when Methodist services were first held in the cabin of city founder Hezekiah Brink. The historic church building at 501 Broadway was constructed in 1856, with Brink himself helping to make some of its bricks. Nearly two centuries later, the congregation continues to gather for worship, fellowship, and service to the community. Located in the heart of Sterling, Illinois, the church welcomes visitors of all backgrounds with an inclusive spirit that reflects Methodist tradition. Sunday worship services are held at 9:30 a.m., led by Pastor Brad Wilson.
