About Mount Zion Baptist Church
Mount Zion Baptist Church is one of the oldest churches organized in Nashville, Tennessee, founded in 1866 just three years after the Emancipation Proclamation. The church was established by Reverend Jordan Bransford and inspired worshippers, and the original edifice at 1112 Jefferson Street was erected in 1905. Under the current leadership of Bishop Joseph W. Walker III and First Lady Dr. Stephaine Walker, Mount Zion has grown into a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural Word-centered ministry with multiple locations serving several thousand members. The church emphasizes evangelizing the lost, equipping believers, and providing holistic ministry to the community through various outreach and discipleship programs. Mount Zion's vision centers on becoming an oasis of hope by promoting education, awareness, and financial independence while worshipping God in spirit and truth with freedom and excellence.
