About Cathedral of the Holy Angels
Cathedral of the Holy Angels is a Catholic cathedral in Gary, Indiana, and the seat church of the Diocese of Gary. Holy Angels Parish was established in 1906, and the church was elevated to cathedral status when the diocese was established in 1956. The cathedral has a long history of renewal, including a 1972 renovation authorized by Bishop Grutka and a 1997 renewal commissioned by Bishop Dale Melczek. On January 26, 1998, Bishop Melczek anointed the altar and dedicated the renewed cathedral. The parish serves worshipers in English and Spanish and provides livestream access to Sunday Mass and Mass readings.
