About St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church
St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church of Hammond, Indiana has served Orthodox Christians in Northwest Indiana and the Calumet Region since its founding in 1936. While rooted in Hellenic heritage, the parish welcomes people of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds into its Orthodox communion in Christ. The church is part of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago under the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. Worship follows the ancient Byzantine tradition, with services held Sunday mornings beginning at 8:15 AM for Orthros (Matins), followed by the Divine Liturgy.
