About The Moravian Church Hope Indiana

The Hope Moravian Church, founded in 1830 by Martin Hauser and fellow settlers in Hope, Indiana, stands as the only Moravian congregation remaining in the state. This Christ-centered, biblically-based community traces its roots to one of the oldest Protestant denominations in the world, guided by the Moravian motto: In Essentials, Unity; In Nonessentials, Liberty; In all things, Love. The congregation worships in a sanctuary built in 1875 and expanded with modern facilities including the Moravian Outreach Center, which houses a preschool and hosts community meals and events. Under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Eric Renner, the church maintains its historic commitment to worshiping Christ, growing disciples, and serving all people, drawing on nearly two centuries of faithful ministry in this unique Indiana town. Visitors are warmly invited to experience the blend of contemporary and traditional worship that characterizes this welcoming faith community.
