About Altoona Regular Baptist Church
Altoona Regular Baptist Church was founded in 1961 when four families from Runnells felt called to plant a church in Altoona, beginning with a Bible study in the Legion Hall before the first Easter service drew fifty-two people. The congregation is committed to glorifying God by making disciples and advancing the gospel through expository preaching, congregational singing, biblical prayer, and community engagement. Members gather for worship on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am, with Sunday School at 9:30 am and evening Bible study at 6:00 pm. The church also offers ministries for children and teens on Wednesday evenings during the school year, plus a weekly prayer meeting. As a Regular Baptist congregation affiliated with both the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches and the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches, the church maintains fundamental doctrinal positions and emphasizes biblical authority, the centrality of the gospel, and the importance of believer's baptism.
