About Cedar Rapids Zen Center
Cedar Rapids Zen Center, founded in January 2000, is a Soto Zen Buddhist community dedicated to meditation practice and spiritual development in the heart of Iowa. The center welcomes practitioners of all backgrounds and experience levels to engage with zazen, or sitting meditation, which forms the foundation of their spiritual work. Through regular meditation sessions, study of Buddhist teachings, and community fellowship, members explore the path toward wisdom and compassionate living. The center emphasizes that Zen practice extends beyond the meditation hall into everyday life, integrating mindfulness, morality, and direct awareness into all activities. Visitors are invited to join morning and evening zazen sessions, all-day sittings, introductory classes, and special events throughout the year.
