About Central Assembly of God Church
Central Assembly of God Church is an Assemblies of God congregation in Cedar Rapids with roots dating to 1955, when a small group began holding services on the second Sunday in May. That same year, the congregation purchased an old Jewish synagogue for its first sanctuary. The church affiliated with the Assemblies of God in 1958 with 48 members and later moved to its present location during Rev. Billy Bell’s tenure. Rev. Ramon Booth served as pastor from 1966 to 1997, and Rev. Mark Thomas was elected pastor in April 1997. The church offers Mid-Week Worship on Wednesday evenings and a Friday Youth Service, with youth group ministry as part of its weekly life.
