About John Xxiii Church
St. John XXIII is a vibrant Catholic parish located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, serving the southwest side of the city and surrounding Linn County. Founded on September 3, 2000—the same date as the beatification of Blessed Pope John XXIII—the parish emerged to serve the growing Catholic population in the region. The parish community is actively invested in making their faith community a welcoming place centered on prayer, worship, study, and service, with a multi-purpose facility that includes a church, parish center, and offices. The parish has deep roots in the local Catholic heritage, incorporating sacred items from closed and merged parishes including Holy Trinity Church in Walford and St. Patrick Church in Dumont. St. John XXIII invites visitors to experience their Christ-centered mission and to consider becoming part of their thriving parish community.
