St. Matthew Catholic Community, located at 2310 1st Ave NE in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has served the local Catholic faithful since its founding in August 1922. The parish began with just a handful of families and a visiting priest, but by 1926 a combined brick church-school-rectory was completed and dedicated, with the Sisters of Mercy staffing the school from its inception.
