About Church of Damascus Road
The Church of the Damascus Road is an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America congregation based in Fort Dodge, Iowa, serving a unique and dedicated ministry within correctional facilities. Founded as a mission startup in August 1997 and established as a congregation of the Western Iowa Synod in April 2002, the church has been led by Rev. Paul E. Stone since its inception. The congregation ministers to inmates at both the North Central Correctional Facility in Rockwell City and the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility, offering weekly Holy Communion services along with prayer teams and Bible study groups. Beyond worship, the church extends its mission through Reentry Reintegration Teams, a compassionate ministry in which trained volunteers covenant with formerly incarcerated individuals to support their transition back into society. This community of reconciliation welcomes those seeking spiritual growth and meaningful Christian fellowship.
