About Gloria Dei Lutheran Church
Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is a welcoming Evangelical Lutheran Church in America congregation located on the eastern edge of the University of Iowa campus at the corner of Market and Dubuque Streets in Iowa City. As a Reconciling In Christ congregation, Gloria Dei publicly welcomes, celebrates, and includes LGBTQIA+ people in all aspects of church life. The community emphasizes acceptance, support, belonging, and care, striving to be a place of welcome and nurture while working for justice, peace, and good stewardship of the natural environment. Worship services are held Sundays at 8 and 10:30 a.m. from mid-September through mid-May, with summer worship at 9:15 a.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The church warmly welcomes families with children and offers an education hour at 9:15 a.m., along with accessible accommodations including hearing-assistive devices and inclusive communion options.
