About First United Methodist Church
First United Methodist Church is a traditional Methodist congregation in Wellington, Kansas, led by Rev. Hyeran Lee Yu. The church describes its life together as rooted in more than 200 years of faith, fellowship, and service in Wellington, with an official organization date in the spring of 1824. Its present site traces back to a brick church first built in 1835 on land purchased by Lyman Howk. The congregation has a long connection with local scouting, sponsoring the Boy Scouts since 1907. A Prayer Chapel opened at the front of the church in 2017, adding a dedicated space for prayer.
