United Methodist Open Door, formerly known as Urban Ministries, has served the Wichita community for nearly 60 years with a deep commitment to meeting basic human needs, promoting positive life changes, and restoring hope with dignity. The organization operates five community programs across Wichita and Sedgwick County, extending services to eleven surrounding counties. Their Food Distribution pantry is the largest in Wichita, and their Homeless Resource and Referral center serves as the largest homeless day shelter in the area. United Methodist Open Door also operates programs including the Family Rapid Re-housing Program, the Head to Toe Hygiene Pantry, and Klothes Kloset, reflecting a comprehensive approach to community support rooted in Methodist values of service and compassion.
