About Athens Christian Church
Athens Christian Church is an independent, non-denominational congregation in the Athens area of Lexington. The church traces its beginnings to 1850, when the congregation was formed with 40 charter members after land had been purchased for a non-denominational church in 1848. Its current sanctuary was fully renovated in 1971, and a multi-purpose building was completed in 1998. The church is locally led by elders and deacons. Weekly gatherings include Sunday School, morning worship, an evening service, and a Wednesday meal and Bible study, with small groups also part of congregational life.
