Baxter Avenue Baptist Church, located at 522 Baxter Avenue in Louisville, Kentucky, traces its roots to 1936 when seminary student Albert Hopkins and his wife established a mission to serve Baptist families in the area. With support from Highland Baptist Church, the mission grew and was officially constituted as a church in 1952, eventually building their current facility in 1948 on the site of a former brewery. Today, Baxter continues its long tradition of loving and serving the surrounding Phoenix Hill and Irish Hill neighborhoods, meeting community needs and proclaiming the Gospel to people from every nation. The church views itself as a family of believers united by their confession of faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to living out their baptismal covenant through active participation in ministry, faithful giving, and an evangelistic lifestyle.
