About Mount Zion Baptist Church
Mount Zion Baptist Church, organized in 1866 just three years after the Emancipation Proclamation, stands as one of Nashville's oldest congregations with a rich legacy of faithful ministry. Under the leadership of Bishop Joseph W. Walker III and First Lady Dr. Stephaine Walker, the church has grown from 175 members in 1992 to several thousand, expanding to multiple locations across the Nashville area. Mount Zion is a Word-centered, multi-ethnic, and multi-cultural ministry committed to evangelizing the lost, equipping believers, and providing holistic community service. The church emphasizes worship in spirit and truth, embracing freedom in worship and the uncompromising message of Jesus Christ. With campuses in Brentwood, Jefferson Street, Antioch, and Old Hickory, Mount Zion offers weekly services and a variety of ministries including college ministries, evangelism, prayer, small groups, and virtual engagement options.
