About New Testament Church
New Testament Church in Shreveport is led by Senior Pastor Bishop Vernon R. Brite. The church traces its founding to Elijah M. Odom in 1956 in Heflin, Louisiana, and describes itself as New Testament United Pentecostal Church. Its teaching includes baptism by immersion in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and the baptism of the Holy Ghost with speaking in tongues. The congregation meets for Sunday prayer and morning worship, as well as Wednesday prayer and Bible study. Children’s ministry, youth group, and small groups provide additional ways for people to take part in church life. The church entered an 8.5-acre ministry complex in 2011.
