About First Congregation Church
First Congregational Church of Kittery is one of Maine's oldest congregations, with roots tracing back to 1714. Located in picturesque Kittery Point along the coast, the church building and its seaside cemetery are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As an Open and Affirming United Church of Christ (UCC) congregation, First Congregational welcomes people of all backgrounds and beliefs—whether visitors are seekers, skeptics, or longtime faithful—creating space for people wherever they are on life's journey. The community gathers on Sundays for worship, hosts concerts and community events, and actively serves the local area through volunteer work and historic preservation. With a focus on making friends, doing good, and seeking meaning together, this historic campus continues to bring neighbors together across generations.
